Usage and Maintenance Guidelines

It is crucial to ensure that a LiPo pack is not discharged below 3V per cell and not overcharged above 4.2V per cell. One of the advantages of LiPo packs is their low self-discharge rate, with an unused pack losing only about 3-5% of its energy per month. However, it is important to monitor the pack during extended storage periods to prevent discharge below the permissible minimum value (3V per cell), which could lead to irreversible chemical reactions and potential damage, including the risk of ignition. An unused LiPo pack should ideally maintain an average charge of approximately 70%.

When used correctly, LiPo packs typically have a lifespan of 500-700 cycles. They perform well at low temperatures, unlike other batteries, but should be charged at room temperature. To maintain the optimal condition of LiPo batteries, they should be balanced during charging using a service plug, which is a feature of most LiPo packs. A quality LiPo charger will include a built-in balancer.
